Hello! My name is Klaus.
And on my shoulders is our son Bela. We love the wide open spaces at Tempelhofer Feld — what better place to get a piggyback ride!
I’m drawn to wide open spaces and beautiful light – even in the middle of a big city. My favorite spot for a run or a leisurely stroll is along the Landwehr Canal. It winds lazily through Kreuzberg and somehow stays calm while everything around it is buzzing with life. This part of Berlin has my heart – colorful, diverse, and full of flavor. One day it’s Kurdish flatbread straight from a clay oven, the next it’s Lebanese falafel with hummus, or a bowl of Overnight Oats with a Flat White on the side.
Before I became a wedding photographer, I trained as a journalist and storyteller. With a recorder, notebook, and camera in hand, I’ve worked on stories in Yemen, the West Bank, and Azerbaijan. After finishing school in Worms on the Rhine, I headed off to Hamburg, Paris, and Bonn, where I studied political science and worked as a journalist before photography became my main path.
Favorite thing about being a wedding photographer?
Journalism defines the way I photograph. Authentically documented reportage with an eye for small details and great moments. Natural, relaxed portraits. Visual storytelling that captures elusive, fleeting, defining moments. My favorite thing about being a wedding photographer? Getting those shots that I know you’ll love looking at again and again — those pictures you’ll love showing your kids.
What else? I love good coffee – though these days it’s always decaf. For the past few years I’ve been eating a fully plant-based diet, but I certainly don’t mind if you decide to serve lamb chops or pike-perch at your wedding dinner. On quiet Sunday mornings, my favorite thing is to take my bright red road bike and ride a loop around the city, when the streets are wonderfully empty. I also enjoy singing, playing the ukulele, and I’m currently learning the art of clowning. Don’t worry though – none of that will make an appearance at your wedding!
When I’m not photographing weddings, I love working with families – always with the same documentary, storytelling approach – as well as creating business portraits and editorial features for magazines and corporate clients. I’m also deeply committed to personal projects such as »Sonnenallee«, the »Ukulele Portraits«, and my long-term project »Wunschkind«, in which I photograph families who have made the conscious choice to welcome a child with a disability.
