Westin Grand: Destination Wedding in the Heart of Berlin

For Ilya and Anastasia, it was a destination wedding in the middle of Berlin. The two lovebirds from Moscow made it to the Spree last summer, to say «I do» on the roof terrace of the Westin Grand Hotel. They said it in Russian, more precisely, for even the registrar was Russian. Just like the small but nice wedding party, which came almost exclusively from Moscow and St. Petersburg. Why Berlin? The bride’s parents live and work here, and it is not more than three hours of flight from Moscow to Berlin. What a wonderful occasion for a little weekend trip to Germany!

The marriage ceremony on the green roof terrace was a novelty for me: for the first time, I didn’t understand a word about the ceremony. But as the saying elegantly goes: The language of love is universal. I now believe the same can also be said of an administrative act like a wedding ceremony in Russian. After the  reception at Friedrichstraße, the three of us had some time together. Cruising out in the white Bentley, we made it to the Museum Island and to the government district, where we had the opportunity for some wonderful classic-urban portraits amid colonnades, glass and exposed concrete.

Many thanks again to Anastasia and Ilya for your trust and the marvelous day together – and also for allowing me to show some of my personal favorites here!
