A Wedding at the Villa Kogge – Two Women and a Wedding Photographer

So, which one of you is the bride and which is the groom? The occurrence of such discussions when certain couples register to get married at the registry office in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin clearly shows that concepts such as same-sex marriages, gay marriage and gay weddings are still anything but routine celebrations. This is not only additionally proven by the classic wedding scenes with a male groom and female bride that adorn the walls of the wedding room at the registry office in the “Villa Kogge” building but also by its paperwork, which has yet to be fully updated. Nevertheless, none of this mattered for Sandra and Isabel, who only had eyes for each other on their extra-special day. After many years of life as a pair (and in a civil partnership, to use yet another buzzword), the couple was delighted to finally be able to exchange rings, decide on a shared surname and simply get married without any limitations, just like two normal people in love. After falling head over heels for the stunning Villa Kogge, the two women decided to make the trip from Leipzig from Berlin to get married there… and not just on any day, but on International Women’s Day! Sandra and Isabel chose to celebrate their special day alone, accompanied only by their wedding photographer and the cheerful registrar. They tied the knot with a wonderful little winter wedding in black and white. This black-and-white colour scheme was another special request made by the now newlyweds, who asked me to capture the memories of their big day in (almost) nothing but monochrome photos. Why? To ensure that no unnecessary colour distracted from the main focus: their strong feelings and emotions. Take a look for yourself and enjoy this wonderful glimpse into a very special day!
